On the cleaning/purging our selves to saints topic. I think a program where one closet at a time is cleaned out at a time. Then the closet is boarded up. Just two rough board nailed in the door frame , rougher the better. I think it might catch on. People will post pictures of their closets.

I've been much better lately at "freeze buying," so I appreciate the gentle reminder. I love the photo of Willie getting his bath. I also bathe my dog in the kitchen sink, but I put her in a litter box which serves as a bathtub within the sink. She's not the biggest fan of the bath, but she does seem to enjoy the rinse with the sprayer which is more like a shower. I think a lot of things can be 'daedalian' as well as simplistic. That's the beauty of interpretation.

I would just like to tell you how much I still appreciate you Substack. You managed to do it weekly. I‘m struggling to get mine out on a monthly basis. Of course the content is very different but it takes a lot of time and effort as well as a significant dose of patience and creativity.

Thank you!

Hi Allison

The arrangement with artichokes & carrots is beautiful… the rabbit gives it an Easter feel.. the material on the table with a print pattern.., so nice

I would feel good every time I walked by that grouping. Radishes with their greens look so cool too (I think) in a short squattie vase filled with water.

Love the grouping, and wonder if our word of the day would apply to same?

Your Sunday post are always a joy to read. I especially like to hear about your “doins”, not sure why but they give me comfort. Maybe they remind me of home in some way. Today’s post reads and feels like it was a soul filling week for you, and I’m glad. Messes & wishes are always a good thing.

I chuckled to myself reading, “ tilting a chair at a 40 degree angle can change the feel of a room” … you are exactly right and it’s such a satisfying feeling lol

Sometimes it takes a few trips back & forth to said chair to get it just right

I’m cheering for versions of the Serenity Prayer to be painted. A meaningful prayer to me and others I’m sure.

Happy you enjoyed time with your sister & dear friend. I subscribed to Richard Rohrs daily affirmations.

Buttered Toast 🐾❤️

I wanted to make sure I thanked you for your nice comments on everyone’s writings last Sunday.

Hi, Allison, I loved everything in this post because it spoke to me right where I am. I’m struggling with living in the moment, with learning how I want to be as I grow older. I want to remember to be present, to find and give joy, to nurture my creativity and that of others. Your words helped me. I love that Willie’s neck smells like toast. Btw, I have played your and your sister’s record, “Not Dark Yet,” at least once a day this past week. Peace.

Lovely words as always, Allison.

I’m also getting the same feeling from Lyn Slater’s book. I adore her and know that she describes herself as “shy.” In memoir however, I am hungry for vulnerability and marrow level writing. As I attempt to write my own collection of personal essays, I find it terrifying to go beneath a certain safety line. Reading this book is teaching me something about how we approach truth and the stories we want to edit.
