I've always loved your music. But now I see how you can be an inspiration to many people with your uplifting spirit in an age when everyone seems to be negative and down on themselves and the world. Thanks for the words and the recommendations on shows, music and books.
Tulips in the Springtime are always a welcome feast for the eyes. If creativity aids healing in recovery, you definitely have some formidable tools in your kit and kaboodle. I’m interested in hearing further thoughts from you about this.
It's funny how various elements of a song combine to make them our favorites... sometimes it's the lyrics, other times it's the melody or even a particular instrument (esp. violin, fiddle, sax & a steel guitar). I find the blending of voices in duets particularly moving... imagine if "That's the Way Love Goes" weren't sung as a duet. It would be a completely different song... and not nearly as moving. I saw Hayes perform in ATL last year - great performance and yes, he puts his heart and soul into his music. I don't recall if he sang "Help Me Remember" but it's another one of my favorites - prompts me and I'm sure others to reflect, be grateful and have compassion, just like John Prine's "Hello in There."
I don’t know, Phil — “that’s the way love goes” was pretty moving when Merle sang it solo. But then it’s just a classic song that everyone loves for good reason. “Help Me Remember” is a classic too, and I think one of the best songs in Hayes’ catalog — it’s so well written and so moving and TRUE. What is true always moves us. 🤍
I agree... I guess that's why one of my other "most favorite" songs "If I Could Only Fly" is a Merle classic as well. But I also find Emmylou's duet (w/ Don Williams) of "If I Needed You" even more moving than Townes' original... something about the blending of vocals. Maybe it depends on the song? P.S. I didn't realize Merle sang "That's the Way Love Goes" - I'll check it out.
Oh I’m so excited. I want you to know when you and Sissy sing Blue Eyes the harmony makes me tear up every single time! I listen and watch YouTube over and over from time to time. Love and Light. Oh and contrary to my name I am a chick. 👀
I’m a Hayes Carll fan. Great songwriter and entertainer. I was fortunate to make two of his live shows in the last couple of years. One festival show at Bristol Rhythm & Roots and one small venue in Columbus Ohio. Great storyteller!
My Sunday philosophical thought of the day:
"If you ever start feeling depressed about your life.
And you don't know your value.
"Just remember you won the race at conception.
You came in first in a battle
with up to 150 million feisty spermatozoa.
You started out a winner." _ MRVERITAS.SUBSTACK.COM
Hi Allison
Such a nice, peaceful post today. I love the quotes and look forward to enjoying a piece of your artwork in my home someday.
I like your musical selection very much, indeed a great vibe! Very relaxing and I pictured my self riding the bow of a boat at sunset 😊
Tulips, so simple & elegant. My personal favorite flower. How nice to be able to grow them in your garden. I can’t wait to give them a try.
Congratulations to Hayes on his sold out tour! Must be fun to go onstage together. Have a good week.
Thanks again for your Sunday favorites post 🌷
🌷 tulips are my favorite flower and I loved your music 🎶 selection for today
✌ & ♥,
Sal

Hi Allison,
I saw Hayes perform inSF last spring and was so impressed with the show! (Also loved Margo C) He is such a great and generous performer.
Also, my son gave me a weighted blanket a few years ago and I love it! I was skeptical at first, but instantly felt relaxed

I have so many thought on this, Alice! Turning it over and over and over….
Hey there. Will you be making any new music to share with us?
I am and will! Robbie - may I use this question in my Q+A series?

I love all of these things. I'd never heard Lou's Tune but I now have it on repeat. And I want a weighted blanket. It never even occurred to me!
Happy Spring Equinox! May your week be full of sunshine! Thank you for another awesome Sunday List, and pictures.... Blessings of the highest!
I love your blog. Always rich.
Thanks 🙏 Px❤️
