"Humility. As in not thinking less of yourself, but as in thinking of yourself less." Yes! That's it right there.

Concerning your "Not think of yourself" comment. I remember telling someone I was terrified and worried about panic when I had to perform on an unfamiliar instrument for a college course. He said "Stop being on such an ego trip!" That hit me beautifully.

Big sigh... love this. And I can't wait to read Rick Rubin's book, as well. Thank you. Sending love and peace to your heart, mind and soul. And I want to add that I, also, love Miley's hit song Flowers. Yay John Henry! I'm so happy for her. My daughter, Molly Rose, and I love her.

You sent me back to Grandma’s room again with your perfect breakfast. When I wasn’t grilling toast on the open fire in her room, it was crumpets. And there lies the confusion. Crumpets are a bit like muffins but not the same. In England, we don’t call them English muffins, at least we didn’t use to. But since the invasion of American muffins, maybe we should do? We seem to have christened them breakfast muffins to differentiate them from the now prevalent American style muffins in the UK. Two nations divided by a common language. That’s so true. Nice strong cheddar cheese! Mmmm...

I have to read Rick Rubin’s book. I watched an interview with him recently and I found it fascinating. Thanks for the reminder.

Your latest artwork is wonderful. There is really a spiritual dimension to it.

Thank you once again Allison for writing and sharing. Px❤️

I am in the middle of that Rick Rubin book too and really loving it. And that English muffin! We've been talking about making them ourselves for a minute; this is a good nudge. My dad's favorite was a lot of butter and a spiral of honey, and they always make me think of him. Hope you have a wonderful week, Allison. <3

It’s the simple things like a muffin that we need to appreciate more. Thanks for the reminder.

We just got back from a road trip. Traveling totally destroys routine. Every single thing that happens is outside the “norm”. Depending on your attitude, it’s either a cause of immense anxiety or a chance to experience completely new people and situations. Attitude is altitude.

Be well.

So much goodness and richness to ponder in your writings. I’m making a list of books to read. Played “Flowers” on repeat yesterday. I was dancing in my kitchen. Thank you John Henry! Love that Aunt Jane makes sourdough english muffins. Yum!

Love your art!

Re: your quote "...the absolute arrogance of “knowing” and of being convinced we do know and no one else knows like we know.," —Richard Rohr.

Here is a poem I wrote years ago about "knowing." It is in one of my early books, "Teardrops Filling An Ocean."

what you believe you "know,"

how will you ever really know,

what you don't "know?" - MRVERITAS.SUBSTACK.COM
