Oh, Allison. Your apt description of your least favorite thing of this past week made me laugh until I cried. How I love you so. It reminded me of a really bad Stepford Wives audition. I thought she might grab a knife at any moment. My word. Anyway, all the best to you and yours. Have a fantastic week. 🤣🙏❤️

Hi Allison

I wanted to take a moment and comment on 3 things before I thank you for the important words you shared today.

First, let me say how interesting the photo, of what I believe is the light bulb done in black & white. Amazing. I love it. As I looked closer I saw images of maybe you or Shelby in a black vest, the neck of a guitar and eyes ? Maybe I imagined all, but it very cool. Your photography skills are rich. Equally as good as your paintings.

Second, and forgive me for peeking at the books & albums behind the dollie vision. The Pain of Others by Susan Sontag. The opening words by Virginia Woolf are thought provoking and so appropriate to today’s conflict in the Middle East. Our interpretation of the pictures of war. It was also nice to see albums. Record player albums. 😊I had no idea Hayes made so many. Fun to know you enjoy playing them.

And lastly, I really like your vision of what you might create with dollie gift from you M-I-L. Thoughtful gift. At first glance it has an Asian feel to it ? But I could also see you create something with a vibrant flair and boots. I like the leather piece you wrapped around it.

Look forward to seeing the finished piece.

Too bad scrabble doesn’t have more letters , because the word of the day would win! Holy cow what a word. I think you wrote in 1/64 time today. A quicker pace & rhythm today. Enjoyed it.

I agree with you about the closet and sorting out. It does dilute ones look & style if too many variances hang together. I need to do the same.

I could go on but I’m mindful of taking too much space. Just know I will be rereading and processing today’s words.

Thank you for today’s post. Enjoy this special week

xo

Any post with William in it, especially one as great as that one, is a post worth reading. Regarding what you are or are not wearing, Willie keeps us informed on his podcast. I like Shelby's Telecaster with the maple neck. Can only rock with that bad boy/girl/or other pronoun.

Did you know In the wild, female elephants form a circle around the most vulnerable female elephant at a time when she is injured or giving birth. They surround this sister elephant together, as a way of protection and

encouragement. If she is giving birth, they keep her safe until the baby is delivered. Feb 28, 2024

Who is playing slide guitar in that video?

And last week you posted about the "I am Shelby Lynne" album. Its one of my favorites, some of the songs have a dense wall of sound sound to them

I got the cd when it first came out and I saw her version of "Im Leavin" on that live at Hall and Oates guy's house

From one native Alabamian to another, mercy. I could hardly bear to watch KB. I hope she learns that when you are a puppet there is a price to pay, but maybe she wrote it. I only say this because the whole spill was so over the top that I was embarrassed for her. Coming on the heals of the whole ice cube thing (this reference made me laugh), I am often grateful these days to have grown roots in NC for the past two decades.

As a fellow Alabama refugee (ok, that might be a little strong, but sometimes it feels accurate), I couldn't agree more. It is so terribly disturbing.

Also, I wouldn't go so far as to say I need a mushroom series, but I NEED A MUSHROOM SERIES!!! Those are so wonderful!!

Thank you, Allison, for every word, being in an aware state and insights throughout. Thank you for your elephant art and donations to the Sanctuary. I wish I was able to buy and contribute. Thanks for sharing Shelby's picture and music. And oh that chocolate pie looks soooo dreamy. May your music, art, cooking, styling, kindness and smiles be full this week. Wishing you a four leaf clover!

Even scarier in the best way was the spot-on SNL parody of the Stepford Handmaiden!! I was dumbfounded that such a creature exists in the first place, and that kitchen setting was like a Twilight Zone episode of the Donna Reed Show. Anyhow, this week is the “Swan Song” for The Swans, so we bid farewell to that era and the vapid women.

KB is indeed one of the scariest things I’ve seen in a long time. “Mercy” is right. Thank you for speaking your mind on that hideous thing.

I’m trying so hard to like mushrooms.

Due to a weird sensitivity, I associate fungi with stomach aches. Perhaps art is the portal of acceptance!

If not, Scout will be there for me I’m sure. ;)

Your photo of Shelby, and the music shared by video is pure gold.

It’s been lovely to read Nepo along with you. My stack grows but slowing down for this book was a sweet blessing

Peace to you and yours this week!

Allison, I see you quoted James Hollis and I wondered if you are familiar with his books. The one reviewed in The Marginalian, The Middle Passage, is one of the best, I think; it’s so wise and kind. When I lived in Houston, he was a Jungian analyst there and head of the Jung Institute. My BFF went to him for therapy and found his insights life-changing. Sorry I’m a few weeks late reading this post. I just discovered you and your sister have Substack newsletters and I immediately subscribed to both. Thank you for your beautiful art—your music, your visual art, your writing—it’s all of a piece. Peace and love.
