Thank you! Great process

You are also an amazing mom and an incredible musician. You are a vocal supporter and gas-up for your friends. You are incredibly gracious. And you really know how to create a beautiful space, as evidence by the glimpses of your house that we get during Sunday concerts. That took me literally one minute and I don't even know you! :)

Well, thank you.

I love this and will now have to see what I can drum up about myself. (And, following Ellen's example, I'd like to add "truthteller" to your list. You always seem to get to the truth, the real, difficult, core truth, even if you have to sneak up on it sideways. And, you share that truth so generously with the rest of us. Thank you.)

Yes! I agree with you Shelly

Allison is a truth teller and I’m relieved when she shares those truths… bc often I can’t

Self-love is definitely a challenge for many of us! I preach this to others, so I'd better start working on myself...

I hate exercises like this…which is probably an indication (as you noted) that I need to do them. I do understand after more than a year in counseling that a lack of self love is common for child abuse victims, who tend to build their lives on self preservation instead. Thank you for setting an example to normalize this kind of positivity.

Allison Moorer, You are not, "the ugly, vile creature I know I am. " You Love Shelby and your son. Both cannot be true. Sending Love.

Saw the same Daily Om and it struck me as a keeper. So glad it had the same reaction on you, Allison. What about “seeker”? I know it’s probably similar to being curious, as I have the same incurable trait. It seems a little broader to me. Maybe it’s related to finding truth, beauty, the outstanding and resonance in life. Sifting through detritus and revealing the one true thing. That knocks me out when I get to the core of it.

Me too. I’ll add it to my list. Thank you.

Well this will probably take days, but I'm willing to give it a try. Positive self-esteem is not my default setting. :) I am also sensitive, but have always seen that as a negative thing, since this world isn't the kindest place for sensitive people and I've always thought it would be much easier to be at least part sociopath. They seem to swim along just fine. Anyway. I'm going to try this, and thank you for yours. You are always such a thoughtful, refreshing read.

(p.s. Off topic, I apologize, but I saw your Instastory and wanted to share--Jeff Bezos gave $100 million to Chef Jose Andres after the flying dick expedition, and that's going to go a long way providing hunger relief for millions of people worldwide, proving that some billionaires might not be so bad after all. He intends to keep paying it forward and recognizing people who are working on solutions to global issues. That gives me hope for the future of our planet.)

I do hope you try the exercise 🤍 and I’m done with Amazon. I’m sick of the monopoly and I’m embarrassed I ever supported it. What a tone deaf jerk. Glad he coughed up some dough, though.

1.I am also a creator. I write songs in the blues, blues/rock and I also record them in my own studio. I have had some critical success over the years but I didn't quit my day job. 2. I see things through to the end. Perhaps to my detriment but I do not give up on projects that I am working on. I might take forever but I stick to it. 3. I try my best to always do the right thing. I may hem, I may haw but eventually I will do what's right in a situation. Right isn't always easy in the short term but I have to live with this tortured brain that will hound me all of my days if I do wrong. Therefore right is the best in the long term. 4. I am also very sensitive. It takes a couple of forms: a. I get my feelings hurt pretty easily and the wounds last a long time. Also I'm sensitive to bullshit and am pretty good at navigating my wsy through this world. 5. I am clean from mood ir mind altering substances for 34+ years, one day at a time. And 6. I love this forum and its founder

I doubt if anyone is really interested in my 5 things, but since you asked, here is my list:

1. I have a good sense of humor and am pretty decent “punster” – many people think I’m clever and witty and I enjoy making them laugh.

2. I am extremely honest and forthright, almost to a fault – since I intensely dislike any type of pretentiousness of phoniness, I tend to speak my mind and stay true to myself.

3. I am very loyal and reliable in my friendships and relationships – unless someone does something hurtful to me, I usually stick by them and appreciate the good friends that I have.

4. I am a lifelong learner and somewhat of a Renaissance woman – I keep reinventing myself and have pursued a number of different career paths already. I’m think I’m fairly intelligent--I have a PhD, but mostly because I’ve worked very hard!

5. I have a youthful spirit (even though I'm old) and try to stay in touch with my inner child. According to the Daily Om, however, I may need to take a course on "re-parenting my inner child."

It is one of the most difficult things to do. I once took a Psychic Development course and I had to name 10 things I liked about myself. That was definitely hard. Thank you for sharing these beautiful qualities and for having the courage to do so.
