Justin...just seeing his name sends me spinning out of control. The picture...of your Mama? How I wish I had the grip you have on everything. Your acceptance of things I cannot accept. I never worried if you were fine while reading this, I just continue to marvel at the incredible mind, will and emotional strength that you possess and share with us. Even here, you are reinforcing the fact that the signs are everywhere if we just look and listen.

They haven’t left. They’re right here, still, guiding us. I will try and take more comfort in that in the future.

This makes me think of the Norman and Nancy Blake song “Waiting the Boatman” on their “Just Gimme Somethin’ I’m used to” album. In it, they sing “Many friends are there, waiting for our coming.” I prefer to think of these visits where are loved ones are reassuring us that everything is all right with them, and with us. That they want us to know that they are all right and that we are loved. It can make us feel forlorn as we miss them but that is alright to because we have a strength and tenacity of our love to connect us across time and space. When I see a small yellow plane like the one he built - I know it is my father signaling he is watching over me. He can connect to me through a trumpet solo whether it is Miles Davis, Al Hirt or Bob Dorough or whomever. He brings me those trumpet songs, sometimes he sends me his favorite song (“what a wonderful world”) or even Bob Marley singing “One Love.” But still we need hug and hold tight to the ones closest to us because our time together here is precious. Xoxoxo

The anniversary of a friend's son's suicide is looming. Your post is timely for me. I met someone in church recently who knew him and found myself comforted.

Beautiful and uplifting as ever Allison....

Here in the UK my family and friends are huge fans of Fairport Convention. Maybe you’ve heard of them. “Meet On The Ledge” expresses your sentiments perfectly ❤️
