I definitely understand that imaginary "rat race" that manifests in our minds. It's great to be motivated, but where is the balance between that and always having to feel productive throughout the day? Whatever book you decide to write, it will be carefully crafted and a worthwhile read. Will the title be "A Tale of Two Sissies?"

I did a time-management course a few years ago. We were taught to throw away our “To Do” lists. Instead you booked time in the calendar to do the things that really need doing. If you don’t do what’s in a “blocker”, if you move it 3 times, then you should seriously consider scrapping it.

I took this approach for many years and it worked for me. Maybe if your are in a creative field, it might not work so well. When the trainer was asked this question he said that, on the contrary, this might help creative people and they might find more time in between there planned activities to be creative.

What he also suggested was having a deck of plain cards for your creative work on which you keep notes and ideas. Occasionally you could spread these out on the table and you might find you could associate these “theme cards” or that even by looking at them a new idea might arise.

I haven’t done the card thing for some time. I might try it again.

Thanks for sharing with us what is on your mind. For trusting us with your thoughts. I of course look forward to whatever you write. I live in Detroit where we are having the wierdest non-summer since about 1992. Contrary to what some might think, in Michigan very likely Memorial Day can be quite chilly and then in a week it is 90° and hovers around 90 until mid September

Being surrounded by The Great Lakes we get some serious humidity. Oh yeah, I love you. Thanks

What you’re describing happening for you reminded me of Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act, which you’ve mentioned you read. By paying especially careful attention in your life right now you are maybe tapping into what the universe is offering you or suggesting for you creatively. If it’s the fiction novel, I look forward to reading it one day.

I love how you’re sharing your process of following your creative yearnings. I can relate to so much of your post.

It really is about making room, isn’t it.

I, too, have so many creative calls, and that can be so distracting. And yes, I love how reading 😍📚is part of our work🩷

I love reading your posts and continually saying to myself “uh-huh, yes I know, I get it, I’m there”.

Life brings us so many lessons and what I call light bulb moments. Light bulb moments for me are the awareness of new discoveries or things I knew but wasn’t ready to see until the light bulb came on. I love your growth and awareness and trust in yourself and the road you’re on. Love the start of your book idea. Can’t wait to read it.
