Hi Substack friends. I hope you enjoy this question and answer series, which I hope to post weekly, on Fridays. It means the world to me to have you here, so thank you again for joining me, and thank you for providing these great questions.
Thank you Peter C., for this interesting question.
Outside of the USA and Canada, if there were only one place in the world you could visit, where would it be?
Dear Peter,
I am typing this from on top of a queen-sized bed at The Gaylord Opryland Megaplex behemoth phantasia resort that is about fifteen minutes from where I live. I once came here with my parents in the summer of 1985, which is odd to think about — I can sort of still see them in the atrium where we took photographs. Today, Hayes and I are here with John Henry because we wanted to have one last summertime blowout with him before he goes back to New York City for school in September. What the resort has now that it didn’t in 1985 is Soundwaves — which is a water park for people who stay in the hotel. We came once before, earlier in the summer, and John Henry had a ball. We figured all three of us were due a day off, so here we are.
I love thinking about all the possible ways I could answer your question. Honestly, there are few places I have zero interest in visiting, so narrowing it down to one might be impossible. I’ve been to plenty gorgeous places but there are so many more! I don’t know. My best answer might be this: if there is a place where love, kindness, and empathy reign supreme, if there is a place where decisions are made for the common good and for the peaceful longevity of humankind for now and for future generations, if there is a place where it is safe instead of scary to live with an open heart, let me go there.
Onward,
AM

That’s a lot of big “ifs.” If there is such a place please let me know. JB
If I ever feel safe enough pandemic-wise, I want to visit Armenia because I'm Armenian. It's a place torn apart by constant attacks by Azerbaijan and always facing the threat of another genocide, but it is ancient and my ancestral homeland.
