I always play Charles Brown and also Vince Gill singing “Let there be peace on earth” while I decorate the tree. Then I call my best friend and we sing it together. We’ve done this for over 40 years and then we cry because it feels so special to share the moment.
So interesting to read about the supplies you use in your artwork Allison ... I had to look up the word deckled... pulp that seeps out during the press ... would have never known
I love words.. I particularly like Contemplative, & Quiet Strength that you shared ... relate to both
How you turn a question about the brushes & paints you use , into something so cool to read I’ll never understand?? You’re such a gifted writer and a joy to read.
I like your practice of buying a gift for yourself AND wrapping it for under the tree! I hope it was something special..
somehow I think Shelby gets a chuckle from that ..☺️
Also wanted to mention how nice the feathers in shadowbox painting look ... brings it to life!
Moving forward in 2024 with quiet strength, peace & a little elegance 🦋
Thank you Allison. I’m just beginning to play with watercolour and collecting inspiration wherever I can find it. It will be fun to try out some of your favourite things! As for Christmas music....I always keep going back to two of the voices I love best, both Carpenters...Karen and Mary Chapin.
Ms. Allison, I have two questions regarding your answers to the questions of the day. 1. When you listen to the music as you decorate, do you play it loud?, soft?, or somewhere in between? 2. You mentioned a Sable paint brush; can you assure your readership that no Sables were harmed in any way in the manufacture of said brushes? I am of course pulling your leg but it does make one wonder....
On another note, I don't get Christmas-sy until I hear " Happy Christmas the War is Over". And then I have to pull over because that one makes me lose my composure just a touch plus I want to take it all in
I can't wait to see the indigo papers. I made an indigo vat this week using bananas as the reducing agent- such a fun and interesting chemistry experiment, and it turned out so pretty.
I don't have a favorite holiday song I think it's too hard to pick one
I love the artistry of this post.
