Wonderful question! And thanks for explaining, Allison. I always love reading about the creative mind. I remember when you took your fashion drawing class. Always thought it was fascinating and very cool🙂

I was drawn to your drawings because you have a way with metaphor and those drawings weren't the same-old, same-old Instagram photos. They were like the traditional envelope wax stamp at the end of your messages--identifiable and personal. Do you use pastel pencils? That's what I use because I like the smudging.

I think you should publish the cards!

Thanks Allison! Thanks Danny! Allison, if you do create the cards, I’ll be on the lookout for the drawing that accompanied your pre-Autotelic “point your arrows down (in times of peace)” blog entry.

my figure drawing teacher would go around the room popping our chins up to look at the figure and not our drawing paper...I love that lesson -to art with your eyes not what you think you should see on your paper or what someone else expects to see but what you are actually seeing. I love your art combined with your writing!!! and, the desire to make things..I so get that! me too!!

I really love your reference to and use of the 'Hobo Symbol'. In your use, it is profound, and it speaks volumes. And you're so right...in our art, however we find it or express it...this is the place!

I enjoy the hand drawn sweetness in your drawings. I too am a life long doodler and am often making notes of a word I learned or the sound of a bird I heard. I am compelled to write a poem and or doodle something from my recent memory. I carry notebooks and my fav pens with me most everywhere I go. I am also obsessed with putting my poetry with my photos. My camera and a notebook can keep me peaceful regardless of what is happening in the world. I have combined this passion and made postcards and greeting cards. It is fun and I love the combo. 🦋

Thank you, Allison! From the responses I'd say you've brought light to another wonderful facet of your being. I agree that cards would be a great idea and Chris made some fine choices! It is always a happy moment when one arrives in the mail. Thank you for sharing!

Ah, the New York days...laying groundwork that we still benefit from today. Your thoughts and photos from that time still ring in my memory. I think if you weren’t so successful you would have become a “professional student” as we used to refer to people who had such a hunger for learning and creating they could not be stopped. Even with full time jobs and family, they keep going back for classes. I have loved and delved into each and every pastel you’ve put out to us. They’re like puzzles and they hold the answers within if you just look. Thank you for some of the explanations. To say you can’t paint or draw is ridiculous. You’re so incredibly talented in everything you do, a true Renaissance Woman. I know if your Mama was alive she would STILL be making clothes for you and with you, for the stage and for home. Especially for JH, when he was little, I’m sure.

PLEASE put out each and every card. As a set. (The only problem with using them as thank you cards is the USPS tends to mar the cards in transit.) They’re just too precious to be ruined. At the very least, please offer us the option of buying all of them in a set if you do make them thank you cards.

Your mind is a fascinating thing, Ms. Allison Moorer. Brimming with creativity that cannot and will not be silenced. We are all so thankful for that! JB

PS: The Autotelic is such a breath of fresh air, candor and a welcome break from Social Media. Don’t give it away for free for too long. Thank you.

Your illustrations are very expressive, Allison! I'm a firm believer that anyone can draw. We do this freely as children, but then get intimidated by it when we grow up. You just need to alter your mindset and continue with the creative flow. The illustrations on the "Heal" artwork are lovely and add a nice touch to the lyrics. Notecards would be fun! I purchased the set that Shawn Colvin made and you probably have them, also.

One of the things I love most about you, Allison, is that everything that comes out of you comes from your heart. It's something I can feel and since I've always lived my entire life from my heart center, easy for me to recognize and resonate with. Thank you for being that clear channel of love!
