The first time I listened to the album I had to go straight back to the beginning of "No Next Time" and play it again. And again. Lonesome Bob's vocal coming in was a "Woah!" moment.
This track following "Send Down An Angel" is as good a ten minutes as you'll find on any album, anywhere.
"No Next Time" is one of the finest songs ever written, performed and recorded. It is a classic that should resonate with anyone who has been in a relationship that started out with passionate affection, only to be tainted by serial infidelity.
The plaintive repetition of "again, again, again" always struck me as really clever songwriting about a serial cheater. Great story today, as usual!
The line "stupid is as stupid does" is a line that has stayed with me. It resonates with me.
