I'm so happy to see the return of the elephants in your paintings. The symbolism of power, wisdom, luck, and family encompasses so many things to hold onto. I'm keeping that in mind as we head into February and all that it will bring.
I fell in love with that Michael Kiwanuka album a couple of years ago. It felt magical. And Alan Watt's my hero and deeply affects me now. When my brother was in the hospital dying of cancer last year, we'd listen to his talks together and hold hands. Whenever I hear Alan's voice now, it takes me right back there...that and your song, "Blood", which I also played for my brother that same day. The only words he said that whole day was after hearing your song. He just said, "so pretty." Be well, Allison.
Ernest Hemingway once said: "In our darkest moments, we don't need solutions or advice. What we yearn for is simply human connection — a quiet presence, a gentle touch." Life can feel overwhelming, and sometimes the best gift we can offer is our presence—not to fix, not to solve, but simply to be there
Dear Allison: I thoroughly enjoy your Autotelic each week. The many things that you comment on and let us know how you have spent your week are inspiring. I had the great honor in meeting you after your show in Pittsburgh, PA many years ago after the release of your second album. You were so kind to me, which I will never forget. I mentioned to you that we named our daughter after your sister. At the time we named her I honestly didn't know who you were, but you still thought what we did was wonderful. During the show I requested that you consider singing "A Soft Place To Fall". You stopped the show to ask me where I had originally heard the song and I told you that I had heard it in the movie "The Horse Whisperer". You were so kind to tell me what a nice guy I was and then did me the honor of saying "This is for you, Bill". It was a night I will never forget. Thanks so much!
Thanks, Allison, I love Michael Kiwanuka. Love your art/elephants, too. I use tools on occasion, . myself, including Tarot. My favorite growth tool is The I Ching. If I am caught up in something, needing guidance, it's one of my favorites. I use several interpretations. One of favorites is by Wu Wei, Then I Ching The Book Of Changes. Have a sweet week.
I strongly recommend Neko Case's new memoir -- as a fellow alien, I think it will speak to you.

Your cat is adorable ❤️

Thanks Alison for your weekly dose of peace and reflection.
I also feel joy when my coffee is the right shade, and that first sip is akin to communion wine.
You are amazing Allison;

I just love burying my hands in cats soft fur and messing up their hair! It feels wonderful!
Great piece!

p.s. I meant to say The I Ching is my favorite, for growth. It's amazing.
