I suspect it's my autism, but I wear clothes until I ruin them. I've had one coat since 2003.

I sure hope "crackjaw" isn't a reflection of the cough you've had! I'm loving Shelby's new music and the remastering of IASL. I'm waiting with bated breath to hear about your Sissy tour dates.

Your butterfly women with oil pastel and colored pencil is stunning. If you haven't watched "Ripley" on Netflix, it's a must see!!

I’ve watched RIPLEY twice through! Can’t get enough of the light and framing and acting and hearing Italian and and and...

It was so stylish and every episode was captivating and suspenseful! I didn't want it to end. I agree about the acting, Italian dialog, sixties vibe, and the scenery in different parts of Italy.

I hope there will be a sequel!!

Thank you for the Ripley tip. I’ve wondered if it is worth the investment of time - sounds like I’ll love it.

Tip to enhance your viewing of RIipley: Investigate Caravaggio’s work. Director Steven Zaillian’s framing and really magnificent lighting is inspired by Caravaggio’s groundbreaking ways of illuminating his subjects and heightening the drama in his mise en scene. You may recognize a Caravaggio painting or two brought to life in Ripley as well. You are in for a real treat!! Great tunes, too! “Dimmi quando quando quando…”

"Things that seem to matter seem so small-When you're looking for a soft place to fall." yes, I'm listening to that right now!

I‘m curious. I‘m an Englishman but I‘ve lived in Texas, California and Maine but I‘ve never heart of English Cucumber! How is it different?

Expand full comment

American cucumbers are shorter and wider than the long, narrow English cucumbers and have a more bitter flavor. Also you don’t have to peel the English ones as the skin is much less tough.

I am deeply enlightened! I can’t say I ever noticed the difference but now you mention the peel, that’s true. Our cucumbers had to be straight and a minimum length to meet with EU regulations. Now with Bexit, they are probably curly and fat again! 😂

Hi Allison

Happy Sunday

Nice to hear that JH is home for spring break. Hope ya’ll do some cool things together. Also happy to hear that you’re feeling better.

Will definitely check out the book you highly recommend. I took a moment to briefly read about the author. Interesting she uses the same group of people in her books. Have a little beach trip planned so that might be the book I take to enjoy.

The pink flower in the vase is very pretty. Reminds me of a still life painting with the petals scattered on the table. The Japanese maples will be beautiful in pots. I looked at one the other day. It’s a favorite. Didn’t you plant one for your mom awhile back?

I never knew about the clothing that’s sent to Ghana. That’s terrible. Im guilty of discarding too. There must be a better way. Hard to believe the US can apply sanctions to that country for refusing to accept the clothes. That doesn’t sit right with me.

You are right there is much to be thankful for. Rising in the morning and giving thanks is a habit I’ve gotten away from. Thank you for the reminder. It started my day off right by counting my blessings. And also thanks for the reminder to look at forgiveness. Not everyone is capable or willing to offer atonement. Character matters in life.

Lots of good things in your post today. It felt light & bright and airy. Nice.

I want to go back and study your Prayer. There were words I’m not familiar with. I think they are important.

Love Shelby’s new song. Happy and excited for her . Lots of good things coming her way.

Before I forget, the Butterfly Woman is beautiful! 🦋

Have a great week Allison!

Hi Gay. Yes I did plant a Japanese maple for my mama last year on her birthday. And she is thriving! Absolutely gorgeous.

Hi!

I’ll be in your town next month as a human sponge to soak up as much music as possible.

Any chance you’ll be performing around town May 10-14?

I’ve always wanted to see you live.

I’d also welcome suggestions for venues and performers during my brief stay.

Thanks,

-Steve

How wonderful! Maybe Steve just a comment above you would like it since he’s looking for music during his time in Nashville! ⬆️

Hi Steve.

I will not be performing during that time.

A few suggestions:

Be sure to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame - it’s worth it!

The Bluebird Cafe is always good to catch wonderful singer-songwriters.

Check the listings at The Basement, Basement East - The Nashville Scene (our local indie) will have picks of the week. You can find that online.

Some of my favorite restaurants:

Miel, Epice, Cafe Margot, Roze Pony.

I don’t think I can post pictures here but Eliot Bronson played April 13th on that beautiful evening we had. It was magical. There are pics on our groovy Facebook page @LikeHeartedHouseConcerts or on Instagram.
