That cut sounds nasty. Make sure you keep it clean. There’s some nasty bacteria in the back yard!

I had problems getting to sleep recently especially with the heat so I stole something from my Yoga Nidra routine which is breathing deeply and slowly and counting with each breath from 27 backwards. You restart if you forget where you are. It really help me. I never got below 10!

Thanks Allison. I always look out for your Sunday List and it’s the last thing I read on a Sunday being several hours ahead of you.

Hmmm...Who would imagine that watering the garden would be more adventurous than the trampoline park! I sure hope that nasty gash heals quickly without stitches.

One movie I would recommend is “Aftersun” which currently on SHOWTIME. It’s a poignant story about the relationship between a father and daughter.

My husband and I watch TCM movies almost exclusively. There is so much variety, and movies used to be so much better. They show movies I remember seeing in the 70s with my friends, as well as 40s-50s noir films, which we love. I also learned to appreciate Fred Astaire films, which give me great joy. They have an HD app you can watch if you are a subscriber through cable. It’s the best.

I'm not sure what you see when it comes to comments from those of us who aren't paid subscribers but I hope you see all of them. I really love some of your paintings I've seen here, though I cannot afford to purchase visual art, much as I would like to. But I believe, as a long time listener and lover of your music, that it also is art and I hope you do not forsake the audio for the visual. And the audio is where my heart lies.

Another week of gratitude for this newsletter!

I really love the article you quoted. I needed this reminder: “accepting reality for what it is and not getting caught up in an emotional reaction to that reality.”

It is too easy to mistaken the emotional reaction for reality itself. But once I gain awareness that I’m fixating on my emotions, feeding a progressively worse picture of reality than exists, forgiveness and peace are so much easier to come by.

Quality filmmaking? Then watch „The Banshees of Inisherin“. Up to now my film of the year 2022/23 🙃☀️…

Hi Allison! One of my favorite movies is "Of Mind and Music". Set in New Orleans. Just a wonderful, thoughtful, beautiful movie. The music is amazing.

Tara Brach teaches and talks about Radical Acceptance quite often. Worth a listen. My go to.

Thank you, Allison. I needed to hear Radical Acceptance. And a few movies I enjoy are The Music Never Stopped, Temple Grandin, and Mrs. Palfry At The Claremont... Smiles and peaceful love to you this week.

Oh man, thanks for laying that Cope song on us. I love CC but had never listened to this one. Magical.

"People have to learn

how to love themselves.

If they don't know how to be

someone they deserve to love.

How are they ever going to be able

to share their love with somebody else?

Years ago I formed a theory about human beings. I believe we are all created with an individual "energy-frequency." We have our own "channel."

Some people tune in to our channel, listen for awhile, and decide they want to change the channel. Some like what they hear for awhile, but soon tire and go to another channel.

Some tune in, but for no apparent reason "hate" what they hear, and try to convince others to hate that channel too. But others tune in, love what they hear and never want to ever listen to another channel as long as that channel is "broadcasting" live.

The perfect situation is when both channels sync with each other, and every distraction life throws at them is tuned out and ignored. That is bliss!

"True love opens the heart to equity and for giving:

True love is kind, it controls one's ego.

True love does not demand, it shares.

True love does not disrespect, it protects.

True love is not easily angered.

True love does not keep a list of conflicts.

True love survives the tempests.

True love doesn't ever give up on love." - Mr. Veritas

Sunday list became my Tuesday reading this week; as always, so much to relate to. I’m also a Bitter Southerner subscriber and that big glorious issue is coffee table worthy ❤️

I needed to read more on radical acceptance. I’m having trouble letting go of some very old hurt from a former partner who reappears now and then, only to confuse me more. These lessons present themselves exactly when we need them. I’ll focus on healing and reading - inching forward a little more each time ;)

And yes to Citizen Cope! We share a birth city ( Memphis) Been a fan for years but the latest is the best I’ve heard.

Have another Drumstick - I sure did!
