Quote
Just as the body is designed to heal a broken bone, similarly the mind has the ability to heal itself from the traumas of yesterday and the illusions of them tomorrow.

I watched:
1923. Pretty great. The costume design is beyond — my favorite part. I have to look away or leave the room when something is of a certain level of violence these days, so I don’t enjoy those elements, but other than that I like these Yellowstone shows for the most part. 1883 is my pick so far.
Book
I’m still with the Rick Rubin book because I haven’t been making time to read. Noticing that and setting an intention to clear some space.
Thing
Black Copal. I use scent to set the tone wherever I go, and am prone to carrying around a travel candle or small container of incense in my suitcase. At home, I tend to have essential oils swirling around in diffusers and candles lit in whatever room I’m in, but one of my most entrenched rituals is lighting black copal (copal is derived from the Nahuatl language word copalli, meaning incense) in my meditation space every morning when I go there, usually before the sun comes up, with my books, readings, cards, dogs, and first cup of coffee. It’s smoky, earthy, sets a deep tone, and is supposed to remove negative energy and encourage calm. My favorite brand came from a now closed company called House of Land, but in a general sense, it’s very easy to find.
Favorite Photo I Took This Week
My altar. The writing on the card says When we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer no which way to go, we have begun our real journey. I don’t remember where I read that, but it struck me as a simultaneously devastating and comforting truth. So I wrote it down and put it where I’d see it every day. You can also see that the house next door is in quite a state. Another reason to practice.
Wish
That you will forward this to one person.
Prayer
Thank you, Great Spirit, for showing me what I need to see.
Intention for the week to come
May I be present, may I have clarity, may I have peace.
Something I’m thinking about:
From Richard Rohr: Those who can be in relationship can learn how to appropriately relate to the other, not just to the self. We’re caught right now in a very psychological age where we’re coming very close to defining salvation as self-realization, as therapeutic experience, as self-knowledge. It’s all an internal dialogue.
Habit
Doing a tarot card pull first thing in the morning. I’ve been using this deck and am getting a lot out of the prompts. I’ll take direction from anywhere it comes.
Have a wonderful week.
Allison
