Great. Since you brought up Red Headed Stranger, i've wondered about your feelings on the story line. The stranger kills the ex who left him for somebody she left behind, and him, and the woman who tries to "steal" ex's horse.
I apologize , but as a child upended by domestic violence I've thought you may have unique take on the shooting the woman story line
The older I get, and the more understanding (or lack thereof) I gain about people, the more I know that there is no explanation for some things. Sometimes things happen, sometimes people do regrettable things. This story is as old as time.
a friend who worked in a record store in Columbia, MO, gave me that album in the late 70's (along with Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town) ...been singing that song ever since and even more since I learned to play guitar...nice job and thanks. Love it.
Sigh.... what a beautiful tune. Thank you for gifting it to us this morning.
You know, Allison - If you have time for a short story: I played music all my life and loved singing but never had the self-confidence to do much about it except meander between garage bands for years. I met a young singer from California. She moved to Atlanta and we connected and started a trio. I sang back ups on her demo. We got so close. I saw her through a major move, losing her dad, a recovery program, a divorce, a re-partnering with her boyfriend, who was our guitarist and then out of nowhere, at 33 years old she died. She left behind a sweet little girl who moved back to Cali with her dad and we continue to stay connected. However, my friend's death separated me from music. I couldn't pick up a guitar, sit at the piano or sing hardly at all.
It was your sister and you who were the first to help me reconnect to music again. First, I was just hanging out with my little posse of women traveling to a bunch of SL shows together and it mushroomed from there. I signed up for formal signing lessons for 5 years and have been working on recording ever since. Also, I have three loves outside of my family: photography, music and writing. You introduced me to Substack. I joined and I finally just last month started writing again.
The point of my story is that you never know how or who you have an impact on with the simplest of your creative expressions. I have no doubt that your songs continue to impact others both here and live. Many blessings to you always!
My favorite voice in the world❤️
What a lovely surprise! Beautiful 🥰
Ironically it's the hottest day of the year so far here in the UK - no rain to be seen. Thank you for this beautiful song.

I am doubly blessed today. Hearing your beautiful singing voice and listening to 'Blood: A Memoir."
That lovely voice that soothed us through the pandemic….and still does! 🙏🏻💙
