Amazing how life works, I have been struggling with all of this. You put everything I have been feeling into words that have somehow helped.. I will pick up my brushes and get to work on this canvas and try to find that place of peace and hope again.. Thank you for your honesty and inspiration. Brenda
A year and 3/4 ago, something came along and blew up the world that we knew. I could say about 4 years before that but I digress. I have watched much of the world race to get back to a world that no longer exists. As a musician who's world is more local or regoinal, I have seen musicians and club owners rush back to recreate a system that didn't work. Clubs that pay 1975 money. All in an attempt to erroneously recreate something that feels familiar. No one likes or feels comfortable in times of uncertainty. We see it in the workplace where lots of folks are reconsidering how and where they'll work. It isn't just fast food joints but those places are a nightmare. Who knows what's going to happen? We're in an extended state if limbo and it is scary. Allison you did your part plus. The online family of fans and dare I say friends who tuned into your shows and read your posts and told you how much they love you is, s really precious thing that didn't exist in this form 2 years ago. I have no idea where it's all going but I'm glad this forum and you and others in this "family" exist. You done good kid.
This is one of my favorite posts, although most of them resonate deeply with me. Your perspective about art is so poignant, as well as relatable in its pragmatic sense. This quote by Matisse is one that I hold onto as a reminder: “Creativity takes courage.” I’ve discovered after much soul-searching that everyone can be creative in some way. Your Mama was wise and gave you many gifts that you have cultivated well. I’m completely in awe of your many talents and your humility. On this stormy evening in NY, your words have been a great comfort.
Yeah. Preach. Thank you. This is a good strong reminder that we are not helpless as long as we keep connecting to each other, through art or kindness or shared experience. I’m going to print this one out and hang it up where I can see it. Thanks.

Allison, I want you to know when the shit show started I was taking guitar lessons, something I have been doing for probably 20 years off and on. I am an old woman now trying to find my way back home "can't find my way back home"😝 hell there's not anybody there now anyway. But what I did do, was go to the library before the doors were locked up and checked out your book. I have to tell you and could not wait to tell you, "Blood," is the best book I have
ever read! Yes, yes mam! I cried, yelled, cussed, screamed and I saw a lot my life in your words. I am UMB as well which is where I found the laughter! I've often said to myself, it's a strange thing to call the meanest man you have ever known a word such as "daddy" just strange. Well, I sure enjoyed you and your husband's show and try not listen to all the fear porn it's all bullshit at its finest. Allison, I love you and your sister's song "Here I am" best song of 2020. Thank you,☮️
I truly love and respect you, you beautiful soul, as you continue to inspire from the wreckage of our present days. Your capacity to inspire when you yourself are so discouraged is heroic and so very real.
In that way like so many others, I dare say you are your Mama, personified. Rock. Hill.
Beautiful. This may be one of our most important times. This will always be a playground and bozo's will always be on every bus. But if we can find balance. If we choose to participate and contribute to this world that currently seems inside out, good for us. But we must hang on to balance. We need nourishment. You are a source
I keep a copy of “Good Bones” by my desk for this very reason. Thank you for crafting and shaping just the right words. They fit just perfectly, today and always.
I needed to read this right at this moment. Yes, we can make that. Thank you. Sending love back
So much yes

Scary times
Difficult to know what is safe, what isn't.
I have never supported or trusted politicians. Not sure one news cast is ant better than the next. All adds to our insecurities.
We do the best we can to stay safe. Nothing is truly comfortable anymore.
Love hearing and seeing you and Hayes
Your music has gotten me through a year of doubt. Thank you both. Music and books take me away, bring back better times and calm my soul.♥️
