I get it about not wanting to be in an assigned lane. I'm a journalist and freelance writer. I write mostly about the environment and business. But I have much to say about healing from childhood trauma, and I began writing about it this summer.

Write that novel that resides within your mind and soul. The world will be richer for it.

I read your words slowly and take my time knowing that I will want more before I get them. You are engaging in your choice of words, revealing in your stories, and you make me feel like I’ve known you well for years. Thank you.

I love the abstract shades of meaning in elliptical thought exactly as you wrote them, because that’s precisely how my mind works. I used to think I was scatterbrained or maybe couldn’t focus, but I flipped it on its head and decided it was the unscreened creative process and should just write my musings down.

I later found they were a gold mine for advertising copy and got my degree at UT in that with a 4.0. Yup! Trust the brain in motion.

If anyone isn't confined to one lane or category...it's you and Shelby. You are both creative in so many ways and have such independent spirits. The Dylan song is brilliant, of course, and we are all multidimensional humans with many layers that may never be revealed.

Oh boy. I needed to hear that today, more than I can express. Thank you for the reminder. ❤

Instead of "get off my lawn", it's now: "get outta my lane!" I had a cousin, who had deleted me as a "friend" on FB during the last election reach out to me recently to ask if I was willing to re-friend as she was frustrated about living in a silo. Cracked me up but also impressed me that she was recognizing the limitations of her information source and also had the courage to contact me. We'll see how long we can disagree. :-) Thanks for this insightful post.
