SUNDAY SELFIE SERIES #67: The wonderful writer, producer, publicist, manager, and documentarian Tamara Saviano. I don’t even remember exactly when I met Tamara, all I can say is I’m glad I did. I’ll also add that I hope her next book is one in which she will impart her extensive knowledge about the music industry. The younguns have so much to learn and the first thing Tamara could teach is how to be willing to get the job done, no matter what the job is. Of that, she is the epitome. She is a blessing to so many. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out her latest example of that, the documentary, “Without getting Killed or Caught: The Life and Music of Guy Clark.”
1. What has humbled you more than anything else?
My daughter’s addiction. She has been clean for two years but for more than 20 years prior it was pure hell. Sometimes months, or even years, would go by and I would have no idea where she was or if she was dead. Therapy and Al-Anon got me through but I felt like a failure as a mother and it broke me.
2. Do you feel like you’ve gotten a good education?
I feel like my education is continuing and evolving. Traditional school did not suit me but I love to learn. I constantly immerse myself in meaningful (to me) subjects and projects and I love it.
3. Do you believe that forgiveness benefits the forgiver or the transgressor?
Both. I am always relieved and grateful to be forgiven for my own transgressions. However, forgiving people is what sets me free.
4. What is your proudest accomplishment?
I’m a classic adult child of an alcoholic overachiever. I have accomplished many things that I am proud of but my very proudest accomplishment is that I have carved out ample time in my life to do nothing but be present.
5. How would you like to live out your golden years?
If I am lucky enough to have golden years I would like to spend that time taking long walks, eating good food, spending time with people I love, reading, listening to music, and looking at a large body of water every day.
I had saved this post until I had the time to properly absorb it. I met Tamara a few years back when I interviewed her for Buddy Magazine. She is a delightful person and a super talented writer. Her latest effort is testimony to that! Thank you for sharing her, Allison! Love your spirit, Tamara!
I ❤️ Her!!
