Hi Allison,
With all the thoughts that occur to you during the week, how do you decide which to address for the Substack Q and A series?
Best,
Susan
Dear Susan,
Thank you for the question.
When I first did the Q+A series, I collected questions on the post in which I called for them. I would go to that post and pick a question and keep track of which ones I’d addressed and which I hadn’t.
When I recently picked the practice up again, I just asked everyone to send an email. So I’m answering in the order in which the emails were received. After I do, I put a flag beside it and file it away in a mailbox file marked Q+A. It keeps me honest and things tend to have an interesting trajectory — there is a wovenness to the flow of the questions and answers themselves. A quilt of a sort.
Y’all have a wonderful weekend.
Peace, love.
Allison
I don't have a question. However, I would like to say how much "sis" inspires me with lyrics like, "I can't tell you what time it is. I'm not wise, it's just the way it is. If I were smart. I wouldn't have a heart." and your lyrics like, Every woman loves a bit differently. But hurts the same. That's what keeps you going
That's what keeps you trapped. Don't tell me you've learned your lesson. Unless you really want to quit
It takes more than a confession. For an old dog to learn new tricks." Add "No Next Time," and I'm just crushed.
For a "wordsmith" of sorts, who believes I understand a little of what some women experience with a man like me, philosophical words from the heart help me examine my conscience, and try to become a better person. Thank you both, dear Allison.
That’s a fair and organized approach. Much better to have a quilt, than guilt!
