Except for Allison Moorer’s last to releases, (Blood & the LP with Shelby), why is it impossible for me to find and purchase other vinyl from Allison?
Thank you,
Stephen
Dear Stephen,
Thank you for question.
The short answer is, when I started making records, CD was king, so my early records were never manufactured on vinyl. It wasn’t a priority for my record label, though I do remember asking about it when my third album, Miss Fortune, was about to be released on Universal South, the label I’d been signed to when Tony Brown left MCA to run it with Tim Dubois. The answer was no. I was released from the label at my request after making two albums for them.
My fourth record, The Duel, was released on the Sugar Hill label and they did manufacture a limited number of vinyl copies. I’m sure there are still some floating around out there.
Since then, I’ve made six albums, and yes, only the two you mentioned have been released on vinyl. That’s because I could decide I wanted them to be. The other four were released on labels other than my own and those labels didn’t make it priority for the music to be on vinyl.
So in a nutshell, it’s up to the label, not the artist.
I agree that listening to music on vinyl is the preferred way to do it IF that music has been engineered to be listened to that way. I wouldn’t bother listening to some music through anything but an mp3 because that’s what it was designed for, but there are some that are greatly enhanced by the depth and crackle and popple vinyl can provide. Yes, I just made up that word. Popple. Hmmm.
And with that, I need some more questions! Stephen’s was the last one in my inbox. Please send them to allisonmoorercontact@gmail.com
I hope y’all have a glorious weekend.
Peace. Love.
Allison

Listen to it on Vinyl if it was engineered to do so.
Sound advice.
(Pun unintended.)
If I could, I'd buy the rights to them all and have KG and yourself remix and engineer them for Vinyl.
Just for you for all you do for me on the daily.
Happy Friday, AM.

Actually “popple” is a word but not in that context. It means to heave, toss, bubble or ripple as water in a choppy sea. Who knew??
