What are your five favourite country albums from 2000 to present? And you're not allowed to select any from Shelby Lynne, Hayes Carll or Steve Earle; they are all immensely talented but they all have home-field advantage. And kindly don't pick two releases from the same artist.
Dear Donald,
Thank you for this challenging question.
Without thinking too much, here’s my answer:
Jason Isbell, Southeastern
Alan Jackson, Like Red on a Rose
Miranda Lambert, Four the Record
Chris Stapleton, Traveller
Waylon Payne, The Drifter
In no particular order.
I hope y’all have a fantastic weekend.
PEACE. LOVE.

I note you omit to mention your magnificent Down to Believing in your list of favourite albums.
Well, of course you do.
A prophet is not without honour but in his/her own land.
You are right up there with Guy, Rodney, Rosanne and Steve. Absolutely no question.
And I remain deeply envious of your 1950s 00018.
Very kind regards
Alex
Always interested to see albums that I’m not familiar with from a list by someone I respect. I have a couple of songs playing in my head now based on a trusted artist praise of the album. It doesn’t always turn into a new favorite for me but it at least broadens my catalog.
