I have one gauge in my existence.
My heart.

What can I say about my love for my sister besides this: it is at the center of me.
I would not be who I am without her. She is my friend, my confidant, and my leaning post when I need it. She always has been. She taught me how to ride a bicycle, how to sing, and how to dream.
I have reached a point in my life where the knowledge that I will not have my loved ones with me forever wraps around me everyday. It doesn’t feel like a cold shroud, but rather a bittersweet blanket, if blankets had a taste.
Today my sister is 55 years old. That’s a miracle in so many ways. I’m so grateful and utterly blessed that I’ve gotten to live my life with her in my corner, with her by my side, with her in my ear, with her in my heart. And I hope I will be smart enough to remember to notice as much as I can about every future minute I share with her. Time is precious, as is she.

Have a wonderful, peaceful, joyous week. And thank you for supporting my work here at The Autotelic.
Peace. Love.

Absolutely beautiful to your amazing sister. Thank you. I always wanted a sister! All of my family is gone with exception of my beautiful daughter. I’d be lost without her. Thank goodness for her. And my amazing friends. I’m so lucky. Thank you so much for your post.
Because of your sister, who I love; I discovered you whom I also love. I remember seeing her on Ralph Emery's show and she weren't like the cookie cutter stars. I knew that as soon as she opened her mouth, her posture sitting there. Nashville had themselves a "free spirit". Also, and this is telling; I saw her on Howard Stern, way back when Howard fu..ked with everybod and especially women. He didn't mess with Shelby. That said something. Shelby is Shelby then they broke the mold. I am ultimately on this page because of Shelby. Y'all can blame her for me being here. Ha I love y'all
