I made a deal with myself this evening — nothing but positivity in this space this month. June 21 is my birthday, and I like to celebrate all month long. I can’t do that if I’m looking down for what’s wrong about me instead of up for what’s right.
So, this month, I’m not going to think about how far I have to go, but instead about how far I’ve come.
I struggle mightily, as most of you know, but it isn’t because I’m not doing the work. I have a long way to go toward being the sort of person I want to be, but I’m a lot closer to her than I was a year ago, however flawed I still am. I saw a vision of how I wanted to be, and I get nearer to her, and know she is not a mirage. She is real, and she is on my path, just ahead.
Thank you for being here with me. It means the world to have a place to share my works of art, in whatever forms they come. Look out for some joyous new tunes maybe later this summer (gotta figure out how Kenny and I are gonna cook up these tunes for release and we’re working on that), and there are also new paintings on the way.
In the meantime, here are a few things that made me smile today:
The almond flour banana walnut muffins I made this morning.
John Henry having fun at the Y.
The pink petunias in the backyard.
My dogs
My husband
I hope y’all have a great week. And I hope you’re feeling as optimistic about what the summer solstice might bring as I am.
Peace. Love.
Allison
Knowing that your putting new music out really puts a smile on my face 😌!!!
Good morning Allison! I think it’s a great idea to focus on JOY this month, no matter how large or small the moments are. Thank you for leading our group with some tough self realizations in May, but always with encouragement to grow. I made good progress because of it. Kinda amazed myself. Minding my own life and counting blessings has far more meaning to me than the negative/mean stuff that used to upset me. My little cabin is back on track for an end of June completion, 1 step closer to adopting a dog, so many good things to look forward to in June. Little things but they mean so much.
Glad JH had a nice time at the Y! I’m so happy to join you in celebrating JOY & YOUR birthday this month!
Look forward to your new music & art!
Thanks so much
xoxo
